EXPERIENCE AS PHYSICAL SCIENCE  TEACHER  DURING INTERNSHIP

As a part of the two year B.Ed programme I went to G.H.S.S Rajakkadu for the 3 months school internship .The period of internship was from 19th October 2022 to 3rd February 2023.

 This school was started in 1955.The school is situated in Rajakkad about 20 km away from Adimali town . Rajakkad temple and Christhuraja church are two religious centers near to school.

There are nine buildings for school.School office,lab ,library,higher secondary there are science,commerce and humanities batches.

Medium of instruction including Malayalam as well as English and the school is coeducational and headmaster is Sri. Velayudhan K.S.

At G.H.S.S Rajakkadu I taught Physics and Chemistry for 8th and 9th standard students under the guidance and supervision of Mrs. Sindhu teacher and Mr. Anandhan sir.Both of them  are kind personality and they are always ready to extend helps whenever needed.

I taught the chapters like periodic table, Non metals, Acids bases and salts for 9th standard chemistry students and Mangnetism, Reflection of light in spherical mirrors for 8th standard physics students ,Gravitation ,Work energy power for 9th standard physics students .

During the internship period, I took  part in the various  curricular and co-curricular activities conducted in the school.I  conducted an essay writing competition in relation with AIDS day under school science club. Other than science club , other clubs like English, Social science and Maths club conducted various other club activitie in the school.

I conducted yoga classes for the students explained its benefits and conducted physical education classes, health education classes on ‘VITAMINS’ and on ‘FRACTURE’.I took two value education classes based on the values  ‘HONESTY’ and ‘RESPONSIBILITY’ took LAC classes for students.

I thought that taking lessons for 8th and 9th standards will be very easy.But according to the students they felt difficulty,so I took more classes for their better understanding including problems.Students actively participated in experiments and they were curious to know the end result. They learned quickly when I illustrated the content through examples from daily life. They also interestingly watched the videos and images shown to them . I understand that inorder to sustain the interest of students,we need to include experiments, activities. An activity oriented classroom is the best to teach the students and to make the contents clear to them. 

 

The overall teaching experience was awesome. I learned many things during my school internship period. Certainly there were many obstacles during teaching such as the less attentive, inactive ,noisy classes etc. To seek their attention, I included activities to foster Interest during the class. They responded well when classes were taken with help of ICT & activities. They showed their interest much in participating  sports & games. The teaching & nonteaching staffs were very kind, and render their support whenever needed. This training period helped me to learn the duties & responsibilities of teacher beyond the textbook. 

              When I will become a teacher, I would design classes based on activities that would satisfy the needs of all students with various level of capabilities. Activities makes the class more interesting and engaging. I will make my class constructive. And will support and encourage students not only in academics but also in curricular and cocurricular activities
